Postcards from Harbour Island: A Wedding, A Weekend, and a Whole Lot of Color

Postcards from Harbour Island: A Wedding, A Weekend, and a Whole Lot of Color

There’s something about Harbour Island that stays with you long after the salt air has settled and the sand’s been shaken from your shoes. The sun is a little warmer, the colors a little bolder, the pace deliciously slower. And this time, we had the joy of experiencing it all while celebrating a dear friend’s wedding—surrounded by botanicals, blush umbrellas, pink-washed walls, and the kind of friendship that fills your cup (and your camera roll).

Design Notes from the Island

I couldn’t help but see the weekend through a design lens—because how could you not? The island is a painter’s palette come to life. Pale pink shutters. Leafy green textiles. Layered wicker. Tropical blooms in coral, cerulean, and flame. Even the ceilings were dressed to impress—painted with reef-like patterns that looked straight out of a Slim Aarons dream.

Favorite moment of inspiration? The hand-painted coral trim on the restaurant ceilings. It was bold, playful, and just the right kind of over-the-top. A reminder that ceiling detail can be your secret weapon in any space.

Island Essentials

When you’re packing for a weekend like this, it’s all about effortless pieces with personality. Think breezy linens, playful prints, and dresses that go from beachside spritz to dinner under the palms.

My go-to: A leafy green cutout dress and my favorite accessory—my very cute husband in a linen suit.

From tiny boats bobbing in turquoise shallows to cocktails under scalloped umbrellas, every corner of this trip felt like the universe styled it. We laughed, we danced, we toasted the bride and groom with sand still between our toes.

Whether it was an early morning dip or an afternoon piña colada by the sea, this was the kind of weekend that makes you fall in love with travel, and even more in love with the people you share it with.

Takeaways to Bring Home

Color loves company: Don’t be afraid to mix palm green, coral, and blush in your interiors. If Harbour Island can pull it off, so can your powder room.

Texture tells a story: Wicker, rattan, fringe, linen, cane, embroidery—layer it all.

Your wardrobe reflects your mood board: Fun, effortless, and reflective of your favorite places.

Feeling inspired? You’ll be seeing some Harbour Island hues show up in upcoming projects. Until then, I’ll be channeling island ease and a palette full of pinks, palms, and the prettiest shades of seafoam.
